Komura Japanese Restaurant @ Corus Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Located at Corus Hotel, KL, Komura Japanese Restaurant is definitely one interesting restaurant to be in when you're craving for Japanese food. Putting aside those impressive selection of authentic dishes including wide variety of sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, yakimono (grilled dish), nimono (broiled dishes), agemono (fried dish), bento sets etc., the cosy ambiance of Komura Japanese Restaurant which made up of multiple cubical rooms connected via cobble stones pathways offers a truly one-of-a-kind private dining experience, one that is rare to come by in KL b^^d

'Komura', which mean little village in Japanese, take a peek at the restaurant's interior and you'll know why ;)

love the cosy sense of naturality :)

The restaurant which seats up to 80 diners in total offers different traditional Japanese dishes to suits its diners' needs, set lunches comprises of mainly bento sets are available while a’la carte meals and selection of steamboats is served during dinner, and if you're a Japanese food enthusiast, Komura's ‘Eat-All-U-Can’ buffet for lunch and dinner which available during the weekends is a 'must-try' as you'll get to enjoy a great deal of palatable dishes at a very reasonable price b^^d

choose to dine in one of the five lovely tatami rooms or 9 dining tables each in a private cubicle room ^^
alternatively, a teppanyaki counters that seats up to 8 persons is also available for those who enjoy live cooking ;)

à la carte menu at a glance, set lunch and weekend buffet menu also available ^^

Our visit to the restaurant was on a Friday afternoon which we tried out some of the à la carte menu items. Among the dishes Unagi Kabayaki is one that impresses me most as it was flawlessly cooked with thick kabayaki sauce glazed on top, giving the unagi its crispy golden skin and moist tender texture, of course the good quality unagi gives extra credits to it b^^d

Mixed Tempura: prawn, fish & vegetable, best have it while warm with light Tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce)
Mixed Sashimi: Maguro (tuna), Shake (salmon), Shime saba (vinegared mackerel), Mekajiki (butter fish), Tako (octopus) etc.. Simply mix and match your favourite sashimi into a mixed sashimi platter ;)
exceptionally delicious Unagi Kabayaki, generous strips of prefectly grilled eel dish that match nicely with the sweet sticky soy based kabayaki sauce, haven't met one as good as this in quite some time now b^^d
gigantic Spider Maki, one which made impossible for me to finish them in one bite like I usually did ^^
Green Tea Ice Creamend up our lunch on a sweet note :)

Otherwise Cafe @ Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya

Otherwise Cafe @ Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya

“Pretty and tasty open sandwiches with a cuppa’ coffee in a lovely heritage building established in the early 1920's.” If that sounds good and you haven’t already been to The Front Door Café @ Grocer's Inn (which situated only one street away from Petaling Street), you probably wanna scroll down to explore more ;)

Tim Ho Wan l 添好運 Michelin-Star Hong Kong Dim Sum @ Mid Valley Megamall

Known to be the most famous Michelin-star dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong, as well as the only Michelin-starred dim sum in KL (as a matter of fact in Malaysia), a visit to Tim Ho Wan (添好運) has been on my to-eat list for quite some time now, however, the dim sum specialist’s first outlet at Mid Valley which seems to be crowded with long queues of people awaiting outside during dining hours really keeps me away (queuing for food at an outdoor area is kinda torturing for a foodie if you know what I mean :P). Anyway with the launch of Tim Ho Wan’s new sensational dim sum menu I've finally got a chance to meet those Michelin-starred dim sum ‘in person’, if you've yet to visit the restaurant, simply scroll down to check out how those Michelin-starred dim sum looks like ;)

Tim Ho Wan l 添好運 Unit 27-G, The Boulevard, Mid Valley City.
lunch hour, full house with queues of people outside even during the working day -_____-
luckily we get to dine on the 2nd floor, which is much more comfortable and less crowded. (yes there's
a 2nd floor Tim Ho Wan Mid valley & a minimum expenditure of RM 50/person
is all you need for an upgraded dining ambiance)
also available on the 2nd floor, private dining accommodation
that holds 10 people comfortably :)

Debuted this March are three mouth-watering din sum available exclusively in Mid Valley outlet, namely the Signature Five Treasure (龙凤酿五宝), Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw (北菇棉花鸡) and Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg (水晶松花虾卷), each promised your palate a healthy and gastronomic pleasure. Among the items the Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg would be my personal favourite, generous packaging of shrimp paste with fish roe, asparagus and century egg enveloped in an almost translucent rice dumpling skin which then drenched in the tasty abalone sauce, that's definitely a great recipe for delicious dim sum b^^d

Signature Five Treasure (龙凤酿五宝)
Named world's most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant, Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley offers relatively humble menu
for with only 25 items listed on the menu, however, new items will be subsequently introduce ;)

And of course rumor has it that a visit to Tim Ho Wan couldn't be completed without their signature 'Four Heavenly Kings': the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, Vermicelli Roll Stuffed with Pork Liver, Pan Fried Carrot Cake and Steamed Egg Cake. My says, the crumbly & fluffy bun filled with tender sweet-salty barbecued pork cubes is a must try and the light & spongy Steamed Egg Caked is also worth a shot, however, instead of heaving'em all, alternatively a deviation form the mainstream for some other classic items on the menu such as the Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf and Vermicelli Roll with Sweet and Sesame Sauce is equally appealing.
