The previous G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra focuses on an
elite military unit of exceptional Joes who face off against the notorious arms dealer
and his evil organisation. Whereas
in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the unit was framed and a
small team of ‘renegade’ Joes which survived the ambush authorise by their ‘own
president’ is what remains to clear their name.
There’s non-stop parade of martial arts action, combats, bombs, and double-crosses throughout the
movie, also fancy high-tech weapons and gears, which feels pretty much like the
Rise of Cobra. Basically G.I. Joe: Retaliation is a package of high standard
Hollywood action movie, with precise calculation of climax & standout
sequence, nicely done 3D, a very entertaining film for action movie lovers who
enjoy seeing things blow up real good. However to me personally it’s still a
bit lack of suspense and depth as the story line is straight forward and predictable.
Still this is a movie worth watching as the big
explosions, action set pieces plus some humours touches will ensure everyone to
have a good time, also the performance of Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis are solid
and they do make a good team :)
