Shogun™ and Saisaki™ Healthy Japanese Buffet Restaurant @ Fahrenheit 88

The Brand Laureate’s ‘Best Brands in F & B – Japanese Cuisine2011(The Germany Awards for Branding),加上Groupon的超值促销,我终于决定一试。

Bait 3D Movie Review- Nuffnang Premiere Screening

A massive tsunami trigger by an earthquake floods the supermarket and surrounding areas, killing most of the shoppers instantly. The survivors find themselves trapped inside the flooded store by a blocked entrance. And they are not alone as the tidal wave has brought in unwanted guests: tow 12-foot Great White Shark!

Bait 3D is a fast-paced, fun and moderate gory popcorn film. It differ from the more realistic scares of Open Water and The Reef as there’s more funny element in it it's. It’s probably the best shark movie since the similarly toned Deep Blue Sea produce decade ago (still I think Deep Blue Sea is better in plot & acting).

Although some of the acting is hammy and there’re traces of clunky lines, the present of blond couple (Lincoln Lewis, Cariba Heine) and their pet Bully is a big credit to the movie. Also there’s a good balance between horror and dark humour.  Scenes of Bait 3D with special effects on tsunami and sharks (a mix of CGI and real-world models) is great as the action is constant and the kills are R-rated and bloody. However instead of digital 3D personally I prefer the old fashion 3D glasses as it would be more awesome seeing sharks just inches away from you..

While the idea of escape by killing the sharks with gun/teaser is rather lack of imagination leading to minimal in suspense, for me the scene where Josh (Xavier Samuel) blow up the shark’s head via shotgun is still pretty cool.. Directed by Kimble Rendall (second unit director for I Robot & Matrix), while Bait 3D is not very good, but it’s probably a lot better than it could be.  ^__^

Resident Evil: Retribution 3D Movie Review- Nuffnang Premiere Screening

This is the 3rd Nuffnang Premiere Screening I attended and I must say it’s getting better & better, but still a little bit off from giving me the feeling of impress.

Anyway back to the focus of this entry, review for Resident Evil: Retribution 3D. Here’s how the story goes: As continuation of Afterlife, the Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

As one of the wildly successful film franchise adaptation of Japanese popular video game series, the storyline for Resident Evil: Retribution is just nice. The movie start with a downright pornographically symmetrical slow motion battle played out in reverse, leading back to the cliff-hanger ending of previous entry Afterlife which is pretty interesting. The context-free recap of previous series speaking directly to the camera from a multi-video grid screen by clone Alice later on pretty much explain the whole picture of this series,  which is very helpful for those who didn’t watch the previous episodes.

Ada Wong (Li Bingbing) & Alice (Milla Jovovich)

In general the movie is not bad at all, the creature effects and action choreography is great, a few of the early scene with the boom and shriek sound+ sudden zombie appearance really give me an adrenaline rush and pulse raise. However, the 3D effect is kinda disappointing, with applies 3D in the movie I expect improvement in both texturing agent and stunt effect, but in the end there were only a few scene which give actual feel of 3D, and surprisingly some of the scenes were very blur, wounder if it’s due to the movie itself or it’s time for cathay cineplex e@curve to upgrade their hardware.

Overall this is a rather entertaining action horror movie which serves well as a refresher course before the grand climax, recalling all the previous series while setting up the necessary pieces for the grand finale. Looking forward to the ultimate climax ahead.

Rating: 6.3/10

Tics for the show.

*A little something that I would like to share to give credit to cathay cineplex e@curve: After the movie as I was heading to the parking lot I found that I lost my parking chip, so anxiously I rush back to the hall to search for it, and instead of just send in 1 or 2 stuff as assistant, everyone in the hall offers their help, and finally a young lady which probably from the PR department of cathay retrieve my chip. Feel so grateful about it, too bad I was in a hurry and didn’t manage to catch her name,  still I remember this nice young lady, think I’ll buy her a drink or something next time I met her.. ^_^

~AXE Anarchy Island Getaway~

I am a man of Science, so here’s what I’m gonna tell you, if you understand a little something I call The Science of Love, it’s really not that hard to be suave/ charming to the opposite sex regardless whether you are on an island getaway trip or a pub in your city. Don’t believe in what I’m saying, well let’s don’t jump straight to the conclusion thinking that this is a mission impossible, here’s how things work…

There are 3 stages in love, starting with lust (Initial attraction) driven by the sex hormones and stimulated by eye contact, follow by attraction when you are truly love-struck and finally attachment where couples develop bond that keeps them together.

Beginning is always the hardest and in our case crucial too. So our focus here is the establishment of first sight interest. Initial attraction start with eye contact, however one major problem is people especially women usually avoid these eye contact or won’t hold it when it happens.  So the establishment of interest during this short period of time (usually 90 seconds to 4 minutes) is vital. How to capture their eyeballs? How to let this charming lady you like to have the desire to talk to you, to wish to know you a little bit more perhaps? Here are my 3 killer tips to attract the opposite sex:

a) Commit on the path to be a naturally attractive guy – Cool and suaveness isn’t something superficial, it is not simply about what clothes you wear and how is your hair style. True suaveness comes from within, attitude is the key, be confident and authentic, iron out the “quirks” in your personality and you’ll see things getting better when you start making progress.

True suaveness.. from within..

b) Unleash your true power – Bring out the manhood in you. Sending out message that you are a man of secure maturity, a worthy allies with credibility and reliability. Use a strong, stable, secure, and more mature manner while communicate. But remember, don’t loss your sense of humour as well, try indirect answer in a fun/playful ways to the questions women ask. Let them feel a little tease and a sense of certainty at the same time.

c) Add-on on the appearance  Even though personality and attitude govern the major part to be suave to the opposite sex, still you wouldn’t want to be too sloppy on how you look, otherwise people might just consider you as negligible. The way you manage your appearance helps define you. Which hair/care styling product you use, what body spray/shower gel, and deodorant you prefer, from head to toe it all counts. So a wise men will choose these products carefully, personally I prefer something that can effectively keep me in great shape.. Something keeps me clean, cool, fresh and smells good, something that will make me look awesome overall. AXE is my all time No.1 preference, I simply love their variants in male grooming products they have to offer, shower gels, aftershaves, and colognes, skin care, shampoo, deodorant and hairstyling products all come in the finest quality which evolve from time to time, keeping pace with the latest fashion. “Stay cool and confident throughout the day using AXE” as what their advertising slogan says is simply what I’m trying to tell here.

AXE Anarchy Island Getaway

Finally since it is an Island Getaway be sporting, knowing how to swim and good at beach ball will definitely add credits to your suaveness. Cheers to “AXE Anarchy Island Getaway~~”  ^_^

Nuffnang Premiere Screening – Chernobyl Diaries Movie Review.

So I went for Nuffnang Premiere Screening of Chernobyl Diaries @ TGV KLCC yesterday. For those who haven't watch it yet, here’s the review for your reference.

Basically it is a standard horror movie with a rather simple story line which kinda lack of suspense, and the ending is a bit sloppy.

In short here’s how it goes,  six tourists hire an extreme tour guide who takes them to the abandoned city Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, which they were attack and kill one by one by the unexpected mysterious presence.

All shots of monsters in the movie are unsteady and jumpy, might be an effort to help keep the true form in the dark so that the audience's imagination could fill in the details, still for me the shots are too fast and shallow.

Anyway I would like to give credit to the movie’s sound effect, despite the fact that the movie is lack of real moments of tension the timing of boom and shriek still manage to startle me at some pop out scary moments. The setting of radioactive abandoned wasteland is genuinely creepy as well, no film has actually explored this area before.

To sum up, this is a decent horror movie with a few flaws and horror clichés, standard horror flicks but nothing more. Not bad for a low budget movie.
