The Front Door Café @ Grocer's Inn, Jalan Sultan (Chinatown KL)

“Pretty and tasty open sandwiches with a cuppa’ coffee in a lovely heritage building established in the early 1920's.” If that sounds good and you haven’t already been to The Front Door Café @ Grocer's Inn (which situated only one street away from Petaling Street), you probably wanna scroll down to explore more ;)

The Front Door Café @ Grocer's Inn, Jalan Sultan (Chinatown KL)

Located in an approximately 100 year old Chinese heritage building, The Front Door Café Grocer's Inn is a rather new establishment in Chinatown KL which started their operation just few months back.

Tim Ho Wan l 添好運 Michelin-Star Hong Kong Dim Sum @ Mid Valley Megamall

Known to be the most famous Michelin-star dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong, as well as the only Michelin-starred dim sum in KL (as a matter of fact in Malaysia), a visit to Tim Ho Wan (添好運) has been on my to-eat list for quite some time now, however, the dim sum specialist’s first outlet at Mid Valley which seems to be crowded with long queues of people awaiting outside during dining hours really keeps me away (queuing for food at an outdoor area is kinda torturing for a foodie if you know what I mean :P). Anyway with the launch of Tim Ho Wan’s new sensational dim sum menu I've finally got a chance to meet those Michelin-starred dim sum ‘in person’, if you've yet to visit the restaurant, simply scroll down to check out how those Michelin-starred dim sum looks like ;)

Tim Ho Wan l 添好運 Unit 27-G, The Boulevard, Mid Valley City.
lunch hour, full house with queues of people outside even during the working day -_____-
luckily we get to dine on the 2nd floor, which is much more comfortable and less crowded. (yes there's
a 2nd floor Tim Ho Wan Mid valley & a minimum expenditure of RM 50/person
is all you need for an upgraded dining ambiance)
also available on the 2nd floor, private dining accommodation
that holds 10 people comfortably :)

Debuted this March are three mouth-watering din sum available exclusively in Mid Valley outlet, namely the Signature Five Treasure (龙凤酿五宝), Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw (北菇棉花鸡) and Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg (水晶松花虾卷), each promised your palate a healthy and gastronomic pleasure. Among the items the Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg would be my personal favourite, generous packaging of shrimp paste with fish roe, asparagus and century egg enveloped in an almost translucent rice dumpling skin which then drenched in the tasty abalone sauce, that's definitely a great recipe for delicious dim sum b^^d

Named world's most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant, Tim Ho Wan @ Mid Valley offers relatively humble menu
for with only 25 items listed on the menu, however, new items will be subsequently introduce ;)

And of course rumor has it that a visit to Tim Ho Wan couldn't be completed without their signature 'Four Heavenly Kings': the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, Vermicelli Roll Stuffed with Pork Liver, Pan Fried Carrot Cake and Steamed Egg Cake. My says, the crumbly & fluffy bun filled with tender sweet-salty barbecued pork cubes is a must try and the light & spongy Steamed Egg Caked is also worth a shot, however, instead of heaving'em all, alternatively a deviation form the mainstream for some other classic items on the menu such as the Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf and Vermicelli Roll with Sweet and Sesame Sauce is equally appealing.

Hakata Ippudo Ramen @ Pavilion KL

What’s up ramen-lovers, It's been a while since my last ramen post but the ramen series finally returns, this time stepping foot inside the much talked about premiere ramen in town——the Hakata Ippudo Ramen @ Pavilion KL to savor some of their signature dishes plus a prosperous Chinese New Year ‘yee sang’ toss ^^

Hakata Ippudo Ramen @ Pavilion KL
warm and welcoming interior :)

Introducing for the very first time, the Ippudo Fortune Yee Sang comes with different condiments, succulent vegetables, crunchy fried ramen, delightful fresh salmon and a fragrant honey lemon sauce. For those who're looking for something new this year, ramen yee sang tossing follow by a satisfying bowl of ramen would be a wonderful choice to be considered ;)

Ippudo Fortune Yee Sang, a must have traditional CNY dish
symbolizing good luck, prosperity, health and all things auspicious ;)
Yee sang tossing @ Hakata Ippudo Ramen, Pavilion KL. Huat ah! Ong ah! Steady ah! :P

Despite the yee sang we did also try out some of the Ippudo's signature side dishes, as well as the new seasonal special ramen for 2015. The refreshing Nikumiso Tofu Salad, tasty Pork Bun and Akamaru Kakuni Ramen would be the combo set I recommend, as for those spicy food lovers, the Spicy Black Ramen uniquely enhanced with Ippodu's new spicy fragrant oil might be of your interest ;)

Nikumiso Tofu Salad,  chill and refreshing Tofu salad served with Ippudo’s special minced meat miso paste.
Chashu Tsukune Teppan, thick juicy minced pork served with fried noodles bits topped with poached egg on hot plate.
For a pleasing bite, puncture the egg and have the the yolk flow down before you grab a taste
of the soft tender minced pork together with the crunchy fried noodles bits  ;)
Crispy Corn, lightly battered deep fried corn topped with seaweed and paprika seasoning.
A relatively crispy and crunchy corn, as the name suggests, slightly oily to my taste though.
Spicy Chicken Bun, steamed bun with spicy chicken.
Pork Bun, steamed bun with braised pork and Ippudo original sauce, a tasty all time favourite,
would love to have a double portion size for this one  b^^d
thumbs up for the Pork Bun ;)
Shiromaru Kakuni, Ippudo's original tonkotsu broth served with ultra-thin noodles,
bean sprouts, kikurage, spring onions and the hard to be neglected
impressive chunk of kakuni (braised pork belly), sinful yet irresistible :P (RM 29)
Akamaru Kakuni, similar combination to the Shiromaru Kakuni, with the only difference lies in
the enhanced tonkotsu broth. The special blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil
suits the soup very well, putting together with the huge chunk of kakuni,
this is for sure my choice of ramen @ Ippudo ^^ (RM 31)
beverages: Berry Fields (L) and Passion Ration (RM 11)
Hakata Ippudo Ramen seasonal special 2015 ;)
